Curtorim Zilla Panchayat member Moreno Rebello launched a host of development works coinciding with his birthday on Saturday, saying he is prepared to approach any minister or leader, irrespective of political affiliations to usher in the development of his constituency.
The ZP member laid the foundation stone for the beautification of the Maina Mand under the ZP funds in the presence of Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco, Curtorim Sarpanch Rui Menezes, panch member Simon Barretto and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Moreno said he is sincere in undertaking a host of development projects in his ZP constituency. While seeking cooperation of all the people in the march towards progress, the ZP member reminded the people that it is the duty of everyone, including the elected representatives and the common man to join hands in the development process.
In his brief address, MLA Reginaldo Lourenco underscored the need to monitor the quality of work, adding that this can be achieved by close supervision.
He promised the people that an old tree near the place of the beautification will be protected.
Sarpanch Rui Menezes thanked the ZP member for initiating a number of development works in the village.
Moreno later told the media that he had launched a mahila entrepreneurship programme at Sao Jose de Areal in association with Goa Mahila Shakti Abhiyan in the morning. “Training in different courses meant for women were imparted at the programme. A SBI official was also present to explain the schemes available to the women,” he said.
