HC notices to Goa govt on decision to reject Lokayukta’s suggestions

PANAJI
The Bombay High Court at Goa has issued notices to the Goa Governor, Goa government and former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar among others on a petition challenging the decision of the Goa Governor and the Chief Minister to reject the Lokayukta’s recommendations.

The Goa Lokayukta in his report based on a complaint filed by the Goa Foundation had, after conducting an inquiry, ordered that FIRs under the Prevention of Corruption Act be filed against Parsekar, the Mines secretary Pawan Kumar Sain and Mines Director Prasanna Acharya.

The Goa Governor, who is, however, the competent authority concerning the recommendation against the Chief Minister and the Chief Minister who is the competent authority for the two officers had rejected the reports.

The Goa Lokayukta had also directed the state government to ensure the investigation was conducted by the CBI, a direction which was also rejected.
