Headmistress, teacher move court for anticipatory bail

STUDENT ASSAULT CASE

MARGAO

The Headmistress and the Class teacher of the Cuncolim based school where the 3rd Std girl student was assaulted by fellow students have moved the South Goa Sessions Court for anticipatory bail.

While directed the police to file reply to the bail applications, the Court is believed to have posted the matter for hearing on Friday.

In another development, the IGP Omvir Singh Bishnoi visited the Cuncolim police station on Thursday to review and take stock of the situation.

Sources said the School headmistress  and the Class teacher have moved the Sessions Court with anticipatory bail applications fearing arrest in the child assault case. The move comes after the Cuncolim police on Wednesday registered a FIR against the class teacher stating that the Std 3rd class teacher and the management allegedly acted negligently by endangering the life of the girl child by failing to provide immediate treatment to the girl child (victim)  when reportedly informed to them by the other students of the class.

The FIR further stated that the management had also failed to inform them about the victim’s health condition  to her parents as a result of which her condition worsened and is presently undergoing treatment at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim for internal bleeding in the head.

Sources in the know pointed out that both the Headmistress and the class teacher were called to the Women’s police station on Thursday evening as part of the investigations. The Women police station has taken over investigations into the school girl assault case after the parents and the residents of Balli expressed lack of faith in the Cuncolim police.

Meanwhile, IGP Omvir Singh Bishnoi visited the Cuncolim police station to take stock of the situation. Accompanied by district police Chief, SP Sunita Sawant, the IGP interacted with the parents of the victim girl student and listened to their grievances.
