MARGAO
The 18th June Kranti Din Committee on Saturday observed the 109th Birth Anniversary of Socialist leader Dr Ram Manohar Lohia at the historic Lohia Maidan in Margao by holding a health camp for motorcycle, taxi and rickshaw pilots.
Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, who was invited as the chief guest, reminded that Dr Lohia had given the slogan “Jai Hind”, which brought about a revolution amongst Goans leading to the Liberation of Goa from the Portuguese.
He said that while Goa was liberated after a long struggle, there’s a need to remember the freedom fighters, who had sacrificed their lives for the cause of the motherland. “The freedom fighters who joined the liberation struggle had no self interest, but came together for the love of their motherland and to free it from foreign rule,” he added.
President of the 18th June Kranti Din committee Avinash Shirodkar said the organization decided to organize the day with a health camp for the motorcycle, rickshaw and taxi pilots “ since they also comprise the stakeholders
of society.
