With the 2027 Assembly elections drawing closer, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday announced that the state government will create hundreds of jobs for nurses and allied healthcare professionals over the next six months through the expansion of healthcare infrastructure across the state.
Speaking to reporters, Rane said the employment opportunities would be generated through the creation of new medical infrastructure, commissioning of upcoming healthcare facilities and the upgradation of existing hospitals.
"Hundreds of jobs for nurses will be created in Goa in the next six months through the creation of medical infrastructure, commissioning of new infrastructure and the upgradation of existing facilities," he said.
The minister said the government is also in the process of creating several posts for allied healthcare professionals, including those qualified in allied sciences, technical disciplines and other healthcare-related fields.
"There will be more job opportunities in the medical sector in the coming months. Students who have pursued medical, nursing and allied science courses in Goa will benefit from the employment opportunities generated through the state's expanding healthcare infrastructure," Rane said.
He said the government's focus on strengthening healthcare infrastructure would not only improve medical services but also create employment opportunities for qualified youth in the state.
Rane credited the expansion of the healthcare sector to support from the Central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
