Heavy rain lashed Sattari taluka throughout Thursday, disrupting normal life across the region. Several incidents of uprooted trees, damaged power lines, trees falling on houses and waterlogging were reported from different parts of the taluka, affecting traffic and daily activities. The Valpoi Fire and Emergency Services responded quickly to emergency calls, clearing fallen trees, restoring traffic and helping affected residents.

According to Fire and Emergency Services officials, a large forest tree fell across the road to Pissurlem, completely blocking traffic. Fire Officer Arvind Desai and his team rushed to the spot and removed the tree, allowing vehicles to pass again within a short time. In another incident near the bus depot construction site at Bhuipal on the Valpoi–Honda road, a mango tree fell onto overhead power lines, damaging the electricity network and disrupting power supply to several areas. Fire personnel cleared the tree, while Electricity Department officials worked until late evening to repair the damaged lines and gradually restore power.

A tree also fell on the house of Pravesh Solapurkar at Vaifale, causing partial damage to the structure and household belongings. However, no injuries or loss of life were reported. Fire personnel removed the tree to prevent further damage. Continuous rainfall over the past four days has also created drainage problems across Sattari taluka. In many places, clogged drains caused rainwater to overflow onto roads, making travel difficult, especially for two-wheeler riders. Motorists drove cautiously as water flowed across several stretches of road.

The ghats received particularly heavy rain during the morning, leading to a sharp rise in the water levels of rivers, streams and seasonal watercourses. The administration has advised people living near riverbanks to remain alert. Although the rain eased by evening, authorities continue to monitor the situation as more heavy showers are expected over the coming days.
