As heavy monsoon rains lash Sanguem region, many roads, including those in Chirebandh and Uguem have got submerged, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.

Locals are increasingly pointing fingers at the PWD and the electricity department, alleging that their negligence have been the primary cause for the inundation of roads.

Residents report that gutters are choked with leaves, debris, and stones, forcing rainwater to overflow onto the roads and disrupt traffic.

This issue is exacerbated by the electricity department workers who, after pruning power lines, have allegedly discarded branches and foliage into the roadside mud drains.

When it rains, water cascading down from the hills carries soil and stones, further blocking these already obstructed drains. Consequently, water flows like streams across the roads, making it perilous for two-wheelers.
