The Velim block Congress Committee along with citizens submitted a memorandum to electricity officials over the frequent power outages witnessed in the village of Chinchinim during night time.
A delegation led by Velim block Congress Chief Francisco Rodrigues, Velim ZP member Julio Fernandes and others demanded that the Electricity department notify the Village Panchayat well in advance of any planned electricity disconnections to allow the people to prepare themselves adequately.
The delegation impressed upon the power officials to ensure expedient resolution of unexpected outages, particularly during rainy conditions and bolster nocturnal staffing, if required, to handle emergencies promptly and efficiently.
In the memorandum, the delegation drew attention of the Power officials to the problem plaguing the communities of Chinchinim, Sarzora, and Dramapur-Sirlim. They pointed out that these areas have been experiencing frequent and prolonged electricity outages, causing significant inconveniences and posing serious risks to the residents. “A signification number of our population consists of senior citizens and individuals relying on medical instruments that require continuous electricity. These devices are essential for their well-being, and current inverter systems cannot sustain the necessary power for prolonged outages. This is not just a matter of inconvenience but is critical as that could impact users”, they pointed out.
