High drama was witnessed outside the Deputy Collector’s office in Vasco as the six-member delegation of MLAs was made to wait outside the gate for over 20 minutes on Thursday.

The delegation of Opposition MLAs comprising of Digambar Kamat, Vijai Sardesai, Jayesh Salgaonkar, Prasad Gaonkar, Aleixo Reginaldo and Churchill Alemao along with GPCC Vice President Sankalp Amonkar and other local activists had arrived to the Dy Collector’s office but were shocked to find the gates closed and a huge police presence.

When the MLAs enquired and demanded to open the gates, they were informed that the Dy Collector was carrying out a personal hearing in the court and hence they would have to wait.

It was only after around 20 minutes when Amonkar made a noise and questioned why elected representatives were not allowed to enter the government office that they managed to gain entry.

Expressing shock, former CM and leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat questioned how and why the basic rule of allowing MLAs in government offices was violated.

"He has violated the business rules dealing with MLAs and elected representatives... this does not happen anywhere in the country and there are clear guidelines how to deal with elected representatives MLAs and MPs. We will take this very seriously", Kamat said.

Goa Forward Supremo Vijai Sardesai alleged that the Dy Collector was functioning as per someone’s directions.

"Officers are being taken to task by this government and while anyone may give an order, the person executing it is in trouble. Why would a Goan officer behave like this with public representatives without directions from someone”, he questioned
