The Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte said that blood donation is a noble deed that saves the lives of the patients.
"It is social service in a way, and hence every healthy individual, especially youth should donate blood. This is the tenth year that Porvorim Rising has been organizing this camp and hence they deserve appreciation for this noble endeavour. The cards collected through blood donation will be preserved and will be utilized for the benefits of the Porvorim constituency residents in times of need," said Khaunte.
The Porvorim MLA was speaking at Porvorim after inaugurating the blood donation camp organized by Porvorim Rising in association with the Blood Bank of Goa Medical College, Bambolim.
Dr Sanjay Korgaokar stated that there is a huge want of blood donors in Goa.
"The blood bank of Goa Medical College, Bambolim needs blood in plenty, and hence the youth should come forward and donate their blood to help GMC save the lives of the patients. The blood gets replenished in the body and hence one should not fear to donate blood," said Dr Korgaonkar.
Earlier Khaunte inaugurated the blood donation camp by lighting a traditional lamp in the presence of Sarpanch of Penha de Franca Swapnil Chodankar, ZP member Kavita Naik, panch members Sham Kamat, Gurunath Verenkar and others.
The blood donation camp received a good response with around 200 people donating blood. Dr Sanjay Korgaokar was assisted by Dr Nimisha Naik and Head nurse Anurahdh Shirgaonkar.
