Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said he was not violating the model code of conduct which is in force due to the civic polls while listening to the problems facing the people.
“Should I not meet the people? If I meet people who have difficulties why should it cause any violation?” Sawant snapped.
The CM was responding to the query whether holding ‘janta durbar’(attending public grievances) in municipal areas was not amounting to violation of model code of conduct.
Speaking further, Sawant said the purpose of holding the meeting in the BJP office was because the code of conduct was in force.
“Since I cannot take the meeting in the collector’s office I am taking it here (BJP’s office). I don’t have any government officers around me. Only my routine staff,” he added.
The code of conduct has come into force in all the municipal areas from Feb 22 soon after the State Election Commission declared the election time-table for the 11 municipalities and the lone corporation of Panaji in the State.
