The NCP has termed the implementation of the Atal Adarsh Gram Yojana in Netravali as a failure and condemned its “faulty” implementaion in the village. Pinning the responsibility for its failure on the BJP and the local Sanguem MLA Subhash Phal Desai, the NCP also demanded his resignation.
Addressing a press conference, NCP women's wing president Rakhi Naik, pointed out glaring deficiencies in the implementation of this yojana in Netravali, while claiming that nothing has happened in this village for the past four years, ever since this village was chosen as the beneficiary for developing it into a model village (Adarsh Gram).
Naik said even as the government has claimed to have sanctioned Rs 10 crore for its implementation, nothing has happened at the ground level. She said despite the BJP ruling the Netravali panchayat, State government and the centre, the Sanguem MLA gave a representation to the Chief Minister claiming that a bureaucrat is hindering the implementation of this yojana in Netravali. “If the local MLA cannot implement this yojana in the village despite having his own government in the State, then he should tender his resignation.” she remarked.
Accroding to Naik, women SHGs had to be roped in for eco-tourism activity in this village, the government had to provide employment to youth, which could have also turned this village into 'Adarsh Gram' (model village). “But nothing has happened for the past four years,” she said, while pointing out the difficulties faced by locals in procuring LPG gas cylinders to replace the empty ones, in the absence of network in this village. “This means the women miss the vehicle carrying LPG cylinders,” she remarked.
She said the BJP is now trying to fool the people by revisiting this village and promising the implementation of the yojana. “There is no playground for this village despite promise by Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadker,” she stated.
The president of NCP students' wing Ritesh Rawal and Sanguem NCP block president Sarvanand Madwal were also present for the press conference.
