HJS demands tiatr censorship
PANAJI: The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), pointing to the July 23 incident of assault of tiatrist Conception de Tuem in the tiatra 'Answer' at Margao by Jennifer Fernandes on charges of maligning the image of her husband has demanded a Censor Board for tiatrs and plays in Goa. The HJS had previously made this demand in August 2014 and November 2015.
A press note by HJS says there is increase in hurting of religious sentiments, maligning of individuals, politicians over the last few years through tiatrs and plays. The repeated occurrence of such incidents and law and order situation is an indication of the seriousness of this matter and it is high time that the government forms a Censor Board for tiatrs and plays in Goa at the earliest, the press note concludes.
