The Save Mhadei, Save GoaFront sought to know howthe Centre had accepted DPRreport of Karnataka when thematter is pending in the SC onthe Mhadei issue.
“When there is a dispute between two States, both sidesshould be heard and not justone which has happened in thiscase with the Centre acceptingthe DPR of Karnataka withouthearing the case of Goa,” saidAdv Hrudaynathh Shirodkarof Save Mhadei Save Goa Frontwhile speaking to reporters atAzad Maidan, Panaji, on Friday.
Shirodkar further gave aclarion call to all political parties, NGOs, activists to come ona common platform and savemother Mhadei. “We will givea call to Goans and every Goanshould hit the street to save ourmother Mhadei,” he added.
Historian Prajal Sakhardande informed that the drinkingwater of Mhadei or Mandovi River supplied to Tiswadi,Bardez, Sattari and Bicholimtalukas is on the way to getting stopped because CentralWater Resource Ministry hasgiven permission to Karnataka to divert the waters.
“This has been done because Karnataka gives 28 MPsto the Centre. Politically, Karnataka carries more weightthan Goa. However, there isstill some hope and I appeal toCM to use his powers to ensurethat the Central EnvironmentMinistry and Forest Ministrydoes not grant environmentand forest permissions for Karnataka,” Sakhardande said.
