Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said that human development is as important as infrastructural development.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the Garib Kalyan Sammelan organised by Porvorim BJP Mandal in Socorro to mark the completion of eight years of the PM Narendra Modi-led government.
"Most of the schemes devised by the Bharatiya Janata Party aim at the human development of the common man. Hence it becomes the responsibility of the BJP karyakartas to ensure that each scheme reaches every segment of the society especially poor sections," the Chief Minister said.
"The BJP government is functioning on the principle of ‘Antodaya’. It is for this reason that this Sammelan has been organised. The karyakartas should go through all the schemes of the government and appraise the same to the people in their locality. The schemes are available on ‘Know your Schemes' portal said," Sawant.
Sawant further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken historical decisions including the Citizen Amendment Act and One Rank One Pension, during his tenure.
"He is being respected all over the world. The development of Porvorim is taking place under the leadership of MLA Rohan Khaunte, and we have no doubt that he will work for the development of the State as Minister for Tourism and IT," said Sawant.
Minister of State for Tourism Shripad Naik said that BJP looks at politics as a mission for the development of the common man.
"The State will be developed when every section of society advances. It is the responsibility of BJP karyakartas to ensure that the benefits of the schemes, both Centre as well as of State, reaches all sections of the society," said Naik.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte stated that his Porvorim constituency is a rurban area, adding that the Porvorim Plateau is a commercialised area while the remaining is villages. Hence, his efforts are to give importance to both areas. He also stated that sustainable development of the constituency has been his motto throughout, and he has been striving to make Porvorim as an ideal constituency.
"I will try to give justice to all the three portfolios namely Tourism, IT and Printing and Stationary and work to increase the revenue of the state," said Khaunte.
BJP State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, BJP Porvorim Mandal president Kishor Asnodkar welcomed the gathering and Anuj Harmalkar proposed the vote of thanks. Sameer Sakhalkar compèred the programme.
