Chief Town Planner Dr S T Putturaju on Saturday claimed that timely completion of real estate projects got a boost post the implementation of Real Estate Regulatory Authority law but engineers flagged the absence of a full-time RERA, including dedicated staff for the Authority.
Putturaju, who was chief guest at the inaugural of a national-level seminar on RERA organised by the Institution of Engineers (India) said RERA also ensured more balanced builder-buyer agreements, besides improving quality of construction.
Engineers from across India are deliberating on the sweeping changes in the real estate sector brought in by RERA at the two-day seminar being held at the International Centre, Goa. Participants repeatedly raised the lack of awareness about the law in Goa.
The fact that Goa is yet to have a full-time RERA with dedicated staff to man it was also prominently discussed during the deliberations.
CREDAI and the State government have also collaborated with IEI in organising the conclave, where Dr Putturaju claimed that the law ensures greater insights into the track record of builders.
