Halwai filed a complaint with the Anti Corruption Branch of the Directorate of Vigilance on Thursday against the IGP.
Speaking at Panaji, Halwai said that he had approached the Ponda Police Station on August 3, 2015 with a complaint of cheating to the tune of Rs 1.15 crore against his advocate, who allegedly connived with a prominent petrol pump deale
r over purported sale of land admeasuring 1,775 sq mts.
“I was forced by the IGP of Goa to pay him Rs five lakhs for registration of the case. The said amount was paid by me to the IGP on three occasions and I paid him a Rs 2.5 lakh installment in the last week of September 2015,” alleged Halwai.
Armed with a voice recording which he said proves his charges, Halwai informed, “While handing over an additional amount of Rs 50,000 in IGP’s chamber at Police Head Quarters, I managed to get the conversation recorded on my recorder by taking great risk wherein Sunil Garg has admitted to the fact that the amount of Rs five lakh which
