Infant found abandoned in Mapusa

MAPUSA: An infant was found abandoned in the garage of a local resident in Mapusa.
The one-day-old male infant was found wrapped in clothes by the garage owner Peter Fernandes, who immediately called the police.
Police took possession of the newborn and later admitted him to the North Goa District Hospital for examination.
“We have booked an unknown person for negligently and knowingly abandoning the new-born baby thereby endangering his life,” said Mapusa PI Kapil Nayak.
The PI said the baby has been sent to Asilo for medical treatment and later shifted to Apna Ghar.
Police said a case has been booked against unknown person under Section 317 and 336 of the IPC and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act. Mapusa Police is investigating further.
