MAPUSA: Days after Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo along with Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza floated the idea of building a Bardez Bhavan by demolishing the present complex in Mapusa, the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) on Tuesday floated a tender to construct a government complex opposite the old Asilo renovated building.
The complex has provision for four floors with ground floor converted into stilt parking and has been proposed at an estimated cost of Rs 23.42 crore.
As per the plan, ground floor will be reserved for parking and services, while the first floor has a provision for chambers for five mamaltdars.
The first floor will also have an administration room for mamlatdars and a conference hall with a sitting capacity of 200. It will also have provision of rooms to store records and a pantry.
The second floor will have five courts for mamlatdars, a mutation section and a room each for the court clerk and advocate and a revenue section.
The entire third floor has been reserved for deputy collector 1 and deputy collector 2, while the fourth floor will have the office of Additional Collector, conference hall and three record rooms. The building will also have two elevators.
The plot area is around 2601 sqmt, while permissible built up area is around 3251 sqmts.
A senior official at GSIDC said the proposed government complex was meant for the offices of deputy collectors and mamlatdars.
“The complex will house only the deputy collector’s office and mamalatdars. Other people are not going to be there,” the official said.
Sources said the recent statement made by the waste management minister was to demolish the present administrative complex and build a new one in its place.
“So far, we have not received any proposal on this front and it is yet to be approved by the government,” the officer added.
It may be recalled that the Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo along with Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza had proposed a plan to construct a Bardez Bhavan with the idea to bring all government departments under one roof. The plan was to demolish the present government complex and come up with a new structure in its place.
