Medical Director of the KLES Dr Prabhakar Kore Hospital, Dr (Col) Dayanand, termed nursing profession as a profession that can be compared to a mother’s care. He was speaking at the function that was held to celebrate the International Nursing Day at the KLES Hospital here on Saturday.
While highlighting the significance of maintaining constant communication with updated information, stating nursing service is crucial, Dr (Col) Dayanand said that nurses often act as caregivers before doctors, and it’s common for both doctors and patients to trust them in executing tasks, as mentioned.
“Patient care services by nurses are extremely commendable. Nursing profession by a nurse who is seen as a compassionate motherly figure is equally challenging. Hence, changes in the relevant medical field need to be observed and implemented accordingly,” Dr Dayanand said.
Speaking further about the future of nursing care, he said that in the current competitive era, education should be continuous with both ethical and financial perspectives in mind.
Speaking on the occasion, Director of KLES Cancer Hospital Dr M V Jali highlighted the exemplary work of nursing staff during the earthquake and during the floods and tsunami in 2005. He emphasized the need for unwavering faith in nursing services until the goal is achieved, stating that effort is the essence of divine service.
“Not only in hospitals, nurses play crucial and dedicated roles during natural catastrophes and other disastrous situations like pandemics,” Dr Jali said, paying rich tributes to the nursing profession.
Dr RB Nerli, Dr Arif Maladar, Dr Rajesh Pawar, and Dr Viresh Nandgavi were present. Nursing Superintendent at the KLES Hospital, Shantala Kori, also spoke.
