IPSCDL to give facelift to Capital city, Ribandar with 5 ambitious projects

Panaji City and Ribandar area will get a facelift through the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) with five ambitious projects estimated at Rs 150 crore.

“Five tenders have been floated recently and work will start soon after agencies are selected,” said an IPSCDL engineer.

One project pertains to the Universal Walkway (Rs 73.38 cr) under the Smart Cities Mission project. The project is expected to be completed within one-and-half years. Online bids under a single stage, two-part bid system on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis from eligible contractors and agencies for the project have been invited.

All roads along an 8.58 km stretch, including internal pathways, will be restructured along with beautification. Drainage will be restructured in the process.

The government has set a deadline of 18 months to complete the project.

The scope of the project includes survey, investigation, design and construction of streetscapes, redevelopment of pavements, drainage system, street signage, street furniture, landscaping. 

The Church Square will be totally redeveloped as an ideal festival spot and it will be a tourist spot.

A pathway and drainage along streets like Dada Vaidya Road, A B Road, Mahalaxmi temple area roads will be developed through the project.

“Tourists will get to walk along the streets in Panaji,” said IPSCDL official.

Through another project, the entire Cafe Bhosle Square will be redeveloped and will be a no-motor zone.

Tourist will find an ideal place for eating, said IPSCDL official.

“In earlier stages of work, we have done all underground work and now with this work, actual visual work will be done,” said the IPSCDL official.

Another project involves the Smart Ribandar project, sewage network of Ribandar area, construction of fishermen jetty and Market complex.

The market complex will have vendors on the ground floor, a library plus an anganwadi and a multipurpose hall on the first floor.

For these projects, a total of five tenders have been floated at an estimated cost of Rs 150 crore, the IPSCDL official added.
