, “As far as the power bills are concerned, we are completely modernising our systems under restructured accelerated power department reform programme (RAPDRP). So there were certain issues with regard to the billing software. Presently, the new system has already been introduced in three divisions, while we will continue with the old system of GEL and have a smooth migration by the month of June. So from June onwards we will not have this problem of billing.”“As far as Tiswadi is concerned, the last bill issued is of January and February. So now the consumers will get bills for four months. If an individual has issues we will have deferred payments,” he informed adding that the Power Department has already revived the agreement with GEL. Explaining the system, he informed, “For online payments the mode was youpaygoa.com. Now I suggest go to goaelectricity.gov.in. From there, on the basis of the area, one can click the link and go to the payment site. Right now our payments are coming from two different modules “ GEL and RAPDRP. Till the time these both modules are combined together from a single source, this will continue.”In a bid to provide quality and uninterrupted power supply to the State, the department is prepared with several interventions like putting up new underground cables, network strengthening and also thorough repair of distribution transformers and power transformers by replacing the oils, silica gel and also checking the leakages. “In all the divisions most of the works have been carried out. Tree cutting has been done and more teams have been deployed,” he said.In the next two weeks, the department will conduct a thorough audit, by having a random inspection of 10 per cent of the distribution transformers and 100 per cent inspection of sub-stations. “We will have a complete inspection of our assets which will ensure that the coming monsoon season Goa will get quality and consistent power supply,” he said.The Department will also begin the distribution of LED bulbs under the Ujala scheme. “We have already signed the agreement. The approval has also been given and the distribution is expected to start in two weeks time. We are targeting to be the first State to have 100 per cent households with LED lights,” he said.
