The Managing Committee of Jamia Masjid, Margao, led by Urfan Mulla, has demanded strict action against Kader Shah for allegedly threatening the District Registrar in a matter that is sub judice. Mulla said the Government should take suo motu cognisance, as such threats weaken the rule of law and interfere with the legal process. He urged the authorities to act quickly and protect the dignity and independence of government officials.
Mulla said the hunger strike by Kader Shah and his claims that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and PWD Minister Digambar Kamat failed to hold elections to the Masjid committee were meant to create confusion in the Muslim community before the upcoming elections. He questioned Shah’s right to make allegations against District Registrar Suraj Vernekar.
