A long-pending demand of the tiatr community is moving closer to fulfilment, with the Assagao Comunidade and Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo assuring full support, including land at Assagao, for a dedicated Tiatr Bhavan.
The assurance was given on Friday at a programme organised by the Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) at Assagao Union High School. Assagao Comunidade President Ruildo D’Souza said the land would be provided after completing the legal process. Delilah Lobo said the Comunidade has agreed in principle to offer land for the Tiatr Bhavan and other community projects such as a children’s park, walking track and library. She announced that the Tiatr Bhavan will be named after Lucasinho Ribeiro and assured that construction would begin within a year.
TAG President Anthony Barbosa thanked Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Art and Culture Minister Ramesh Tawadkar for their support in promoting tiatr, and also thanked the Assagao Comunidade for responding positively to the long-standing demand.
