Fatorda police station’s first murder case reported in 2017 has ended in a conviction with the South Goa Sessions Court holding guilty a native of Jharkhand Somra Yadav for the murder of Mantri Marandi also hailing from the same state.
The murder had taken place behind the South Goa district hospital under construction way back on October 15, 2017.
Acting on a complaint lodged by one Balu Boravadkar, aged 55 years, a native of Kolhapur-Maharashtra, the Fatorda police station in-charge, PI Navlesh Desai arrested accused Somra Yadav, who was residing at the under construction district hospital site.
During investigations, it was revealed that the accused had attacked the deceased with a piece of cement block at the backside of the head, resulting in his death.
The Sessions Court has now fixed hearing on the point of sentence in the case on November 2.
While the case was investigated by then PI Navlesh Desai, Public Prosecutor L Fernandes represented the prosecution in the case.
