A day after he was accused for filing false cases by arch rival Clafacio Dias, former Urban Development Minister Joaquim Alemao on Saturday rubbished allegations that he is behind the host of cases lodged against his ticket rival.
“I am shocked and surprised that Clafacio is blaming me for the cases lodged against him. Why should he blame me when the cases were registered against Clafacio as early as in 2014. How I am responsible if the Pollution Control Board or the Water Resources Department had issued notices and orders on the Congress ticket aspirant around two years ago. That time, I had no idea that Clafacio would stake claim for the Congress ticket. Laying blame on someone’s doorsteps cannot absolve one of the charges," Joaquim said, adding that people of Cuncolim will not fall to these false accusations levelled against him by Dias.
Replying to a question, Joaquim said that he has in no way tried to sabotage chances of his rival from getting the Congress ticket, when he had on more than one occasion made it clear that he would contest the coming election with or without the Congress ticket.
