A job fair will be held at Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC)’s hall at Verna Industrial Estate on July 20. The fair is being organised by the Office of Commissioner, Labour and Employment along with Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and Goa’s Chapter of National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM).
Agnelo Fernandes, commissioner of labour and employment, said, “15 companies have already informed that they will be present at the job fair. Around 150 jobs will be provided to job seekers. Companies like Sai Service, Park Hyatt, Muktar Automobiles and a number of pharmaceutical companies and hotels are going to be there to provide jobs.”
Fernandes also said that the job fair will be a bridge between job seekers and providers. Candidates can walk in the fair, apply at various vacant positions, go through the selection process and if selected can even get a job.
An official from regional employment exchange in Panaji informed, “There are around 1,20,000 candidates listed with us in Goa. All kinds of people right from someone who has done a course from ITI and PhD are listed with us.”
The official also informed that the regional employment exchange has a portal, where employers can go and list their jobs, and job seekers can find a job not only in Goa but in other states of India and outside the country as well.
The job fair will be inaugurated by Labour Minister Avertano Furtado.
