KAHER holds convocation   ceremony in Belagavi

The 14th convocation of KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER), Belagavi was held at the KLE Centenary Convention Centre here on Monday.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar was the chief guest and conferred gold medals and certificates to 45 students, including two Goan students, who excelled in their academics.

Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, KLES Chairman and University Chancellor Dr Prabhakar Kore, Vice Chancellor Dr Nitin Gangane were were present on the dais.

Vice Provost of Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, USA, Dr Richard Jacob Derman, was awarded an honorary doctorate degree at the ceremony.

Chancellor Dr Prabhakar Kore declared the convocation open after which Vice Chancellor Dr Nitin Gangane presented a brief report on the achievements of the KAHER.

Congratulating the students, Vice President Dhankhar called upon students to continue excelling in education as an “Ecosystem of Opportunities” was now available for those who would excel in the field of education and enhance opportunities.

“Don’t forget that learning never stops hence keep learning always. Your education will be an asset to the nation,” Vice President Dhankhar said.

He also advised students not to focus on fiscal benefits and keep service as the motto of their practice or service to the society.

He also congratulated Dr Prabhkar Kore for his ‘passion and mission’ for imparting education to the millions in the region.

“I know Dr Kore as a colleague in Parliament. He has been persistently striving for the cause of health and education,” Vice President Dhankhar said.

“There is much progress needed to make this highest populated country a developed nation and this can be achieved by the young professionals. The graduates should utilise their knowledge, capacity to avail the abandoned opportunities available in the country to take this country into the path of progress,” he said.

A total of 1,739 degrees, including 45 Gold Medals, 30 PhDs, 13 Post-doctoral (DM/M Ch), 644 Post-Graduates, 1023 Under-Graduates, 9 Post-Graduate Diplomas, 4 Diplomas, 5 Fellowships and 11 Certificate Courses, were awarded in various disciplines of Health Sciences during the convocation.

During the convocation KLE Chairman Dr Prabhakar Kore felicitated Vice President Jagadeep Dhankar and his wife Dr Sudesh Dhankar and also felicitated Governor of Karnataka Thaawar Chand Gehlot by presenting a statue of Lord Basaveshwar.

Controller of Examinations Prof Dr Chandra S Metgud and Registrar Prof Dr MS Ganachari were also present at the ceremony.
