Kalsotsav restarts in Mayem after 6 years
BICHOLIM: The Kalsotsav of Mahamaya Devasthan, Gaonkarwada-Mayem, which was stopped for the last six years finally started on Saturday.
About 300 vehicles took part in the procession to mark the moment.
It may be recalled that the Kalsotsav of Goddess Mahamaya, Gaonkarwada-Mayem, was under dispute for the last six years due to internal differences between Parab community and Gawas, Naik Gaonkar, Gosavi and Karbhatkar communities from Mayem over the right of mahajanship (hosting).
However, this year the dispute was resolved following a mutual understanding and the Kalash procession started after a gap of six years.
The kalsotsav ceremony will end on March 20, after the Kalash procession visits different places in Mayem village.
