Margao MLA Digambar Kamat has made an impassioned plea to philanthropists and citizens in general to support the mission launched by Keshav Seva Sadhana’s Shree Damodar Dialysis Centre at Margao.
Addressing the media, Kamat said the dialysis centre located on the ground floor of the multipurpose cyclone shelter, near Bal Bhavan, Aquem-Margao, is ready for commissioning.
“Upon commissioning, the six-bedded dialysis centre will cater to 12 patients per day. The patients will be able to avail themselves of the facility upon producing the DDSY card. The NGO, however, will be in need of around Rs 50–60 lakh to run the dialysis facility. I appeal to the citizens as well as philanthropists to support the Keshav Seva Sadhana in their mission,” he said.
The dialysis centre has been set up by the Keshav Seva Sadhana after a survey conducted by the volunteers of KSS at the Government hospitals of Canacona and Salcete talukas, which found that there are many patients in need of dialysis, but there is no corresponding dialysis facility available in the State.
As such, KSS has made all arrangements to start a dialysis unit of their own at Margao, the district headquarters of South Goa district, where dialysis services will be provided to needy persons/patients at nominal charges as a social obligation of the organisation.
