Painter nabbed in Mapusa for theft in Pune

Mapusa police has arrested a painter from Pune who had allegedly stolen two gold bangles worth Rs 4 lakh from a house in Kothrud-Pune and had fled to Goa.

According to reports, the incident had taken place on July 28, when Pramod Shinde of Kothrud-Pune had been contracted to paint the house of a family.

The accused had opened a cupboard in the bedroom and had stolen 2 gold bangles worth Rs 4 lakh. He then left the painting contract midway and had fled from Pune. On noticing the theft, the family had lodged a complaint with the Pune police.

During investigation, Pune police learnt that the accused had taken a bus to Goa and immediately contacted the Goa police.

As soon as the bus reached the Mapusa bus station, a Mapusa police team nabbed the accused and notified the Pune police.

A Pune police team later went to the Mapusa police station and took Shinde into their custody.

The Pune police has praised the Goa police, especially North Goa Superintendent of Police Rahul Gupta, Mapusa Police Inspector Nikhil Palekar and his team, for the swift arrest of the accused at the Mapusa bus stand.
