Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar has promised to bring about a revolution in agriculture, to bring more and more area under cultivation and to increase the income of the farmers through better marketing facilities.
While showering praises on Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, the Deputy CM said the government has handled the Covid-19 pandemic well, pointing out that Goa was not the only state to be hit by coronavirus, but the pandemic had affected the entire world including the developed western world.
“Today, we remembered Dr Ram Manohar Lohia for igniting the flame of Liberation on June 18, 1946, which triggered a revolution, finally culminating in Goa’s Liberation in 1961. We need to now bring a revolution in other fields and spheres, including agriculture,” he said, adding that the agriculture department headed by him is on the path of bringing about the green revolution.
He added: The farmers need better price for their produce so that they receive additional income. We are on the job to usher in a green revolution. Schemes meant for the farmers will be taken to their doorsteps.”
Commenting on the Covid pandemic, Kavlekar made a fervent plea to all the people, including the political parties to unitedly overcome the pandemic without indulging in a game of one-upmanship. “On this revolution day, let us all work hand in hand to reach out to the people and overcome the pandemic,” he added.
