Konkani Bhasha Mandal will be celebrating its 60th anniversary on September 30 and to mark the event six veterans “ Naguesh Karmali, Adv Uday Bhembre, Damodar Mauzo, Pundalik Naik, Meena Kakodkar and Hema Naik “ will be honoured with Lifetime Achievement award in the presence of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Prof Dr Ashwani Kumar, writer and dean, School of Development Studies at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Mumbai.
Singers Lorna Cordeiro and Pandit Ajit Kumar Kadkade along with the Governor of Himachal Pradesh Rajendra Arlekar, industrialists and philanthropists Auduth Timblo, Dattaraj Salgaonkar, Shrinivas Dempo and Kamlaksh Naik along with Konkani film producer Dr Pramod Salgaonkar will be presented with the honorary membership of KBM. Also, a special issue of 'Konkani' will be launched.
The formal programme will be followed by a musical play titled ‘Konkanichi Mathikartavyachisathi’ conceptualised by Ravindra Kelekar Dnyanmandir, Margao.
The annual awards ceremony will be held on October 1 at Gomant Vidya Niketan in Margao. Indian writer Arun Kamal will be the chief guest at the function. Goan writers Meena Kakodkar and Narayan Mauzo, former president of Goa Board Jose Rebello, Konkani activist R B S Komarpant and director (training) and secretary, GIPARD Society Michael D’Souza (IAS) will be the guest of honours.
