PORVORIM
Making several allegations against Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte said that the CM is getting exposed day by day.
Khaunte was speaking to media persons after inaugurating his new office premises at Vaddem-Soccoro.
“The very fact that Sawant has purchased vast land in Dodamarg indicates some hidden agenda. Similarly the way he is handling the Mhadei issue, there are rumours that he must have purchased land in Karnataka as well. Time will tell, of course,” said Khaunte alleging that Sawant was an Ayurvedic doctor and not a hydrologist to speak authoritatively on the Mhadei issue.
“There are so many challenges like environment, unemployment, etc before us. Instead of tackling these issues, the Chief Minister is talking more on irrelevant issues,” said Khaunte.
Speaking about the grounded naphtha tanker at Dona Paula, Khaunte urged the government to act fast in this matter. “Leakage of naphtha from the grounded vessel is a serious issue. The government should appoint the National Institute of Oceanography to look into this matter,” suggested Khaunte.
In regard to reducing the qualifications for OSD’s, Khaunte stated that the government was setting a bad example for the rest of the country. “One must not forget that for good governance, qualified people are required,” he said.
Khaunte also mentioned that about 8 dengue cases have been reported in Porvorim constituency.
“Dengue is a serious issue and must be tackled with the seriousness it deserves, Khaunte said expressing his unhappiness with the way the Health Department was dealing with the issue.
Panch member Shyam Kamat welcomed the gathering and compered the programme. Also present were ZP member Vaishally Satardekar, Gupesh Naik, sarpanch of Salvador do Mundo panchayat Sandeep Salgaonkar, panch member of Penha de Franca Swapnil Chodankar, Shyam Kamat, Shalu Gupta, panch members of Soccorro Sanjay Pednekar, Maya Keni and others.
Porvorim MLA opens new office at Soccoro
Porvorim: Giving in to the long-pending demand from residents of Vaddem, Kharrem, Aradi and Joswado to open an office in Soccoro, Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte formally opened a new office at Vaddem “Soccoro on Sunday.
Parish Priest Father Santana Carvalho inaugurated the new office by cutting the red ribbon.
Speaking on the occasion, Khaunte said, “Some residents of Soccorro, especially senor citizens used to find it difficult to come to his office at Porvorim. In order to interact with the residents of Soccorro village and hear their grievances and suggestions about developmental works as also to advise farmers, self-help groups and poor people about schemes devised by the government for them, this new office has been opened.”
Parish Priest Fr Carvalho lauded Khaunte for the development taken up by him in the constituency since he became the MLA.
“The very fact that he has opened one more office for the benefit of the residents of Soccorro indicates that he cares for the people and is really interested in the development of his constituency . If he continues to get this support from the people no doubt Porvorim constituency will be one of the ideal constituencies in Goa in the near future,” said Fr Carvalho.
