Former Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte on Thursday demanded a CBI probe in the entire naphtha-laden Nu-Shi Nalini grounded off the Dona Paula coast alleging that the serious lapse has posed danger to the life of the people of Goa.

“The government should give the matter to the CBI for inquiry. Let the government come out with a white paper about the role of MPT, DG-Shiping and government officials,” said Khaunte in a press conference on Thursday.

Alleging that the government is hiding the name of the real owner of the ship, Khaunte demanded that the name be made public and that the MPT chairman be arrested.

He raised serious questions such as how a boat from Karachi which was rejected at Kochi came to Goa? Who brought it? And why was there no action when the boat was lying in the port from

July 15?

He also questioned why the material was not seized by the customs when the ship came to Goa and who permitted it’s entry.

“What was role of MPT? Why was the NIO not roped in? Whom is the CM protecting? Who is the real owner of ship?” questioned Khaunte.

Khaunte also raised questions as to why the pump was taken in by helicopter rather than by boat and why it took the government 10 days to decide to rope in a Singapore-based agency to salvage the vessel.

Meanwhile, Khaunte alleged that the person who was once involved in stealing diesel from boats and giving it to casinos is involved in the licensing process of the boat.
