The Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated that work on the new complex of the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court which is going on at Porvorim opposite the Goa Legislative Complex will be completed by 31 March 2020 and possession of the building will be given to Mumbai High Court in April 2020. 

He was speaking after inspecting the progress of the work of the new complex along with the officials of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation namely Managing Director Srinet Kothavale, General Manager (civil) Dilip Joshi, Manager (Civil) Sudesh Sangodkar and Asst Manager (Civil) Nitha Gopi.  

Sawant further mentioned that around 80% of the civil cum electrical work and 20% of the interior work of the building has been completed and the remaining work except that of landscaping will be completed by 31 March 2020.

 “The building will be inaugurated in April 2020. During court holidays in the month of April-May 2020, they will be able to do the shifting and routine work could commence in June 2020. There are 7 court halls in this building and all the facilities which are required by the Court will be made available in this new complex. The work of landscaping will be undertaken in the monsoon. Judges and officials monitoring the progress of the work regularly. The estimated cost of the project was Rs 79 crores which has now risen to Rs 90 crores,” said Sawant.  

The CM further mentioned that the service road of 6 meters leading to the new High Court building will be constructed by the side of the existing highway and work of the same will be tendered shortly.  Similarly, a separate road of 6 meters from the HC building towards the highway will also be constructed. 

“The fate of the old HC building at Altinho-Panjim has not been decided as yet. The construction of the District Court building is expected to be completed by May 2021,” said Sawant.
