In order to provide a luxury co-working space to start-ups and corporates, Dempo Group and Biz Nest came together to launch ‘MeWo’ in Panaji. This new centre is aimed at Goan companies and also at outside companies, that want to move their operations to Goa.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant launched MeWo at Dempo Trade Centre at Patto in Panaji in the presence of IT Minister Jennifer Monserrate, chairman of Dempo Group Shrinivas Dempo and Abrar Shaikh founder of Biz Nest.
Sawant said, “It is one of the best centres for someone to start IT business in Goa. This centre is more advanced, as they are providing all services under one roof.”
Dempo said, “I realized that there is a great deficiency in facilitating the start-up culture in Goa. We need more facilities and spaces like these. Already, we have signed up with two start-ups. Of that, one start-up has already employed eight Goans and they are going to employ another eight Goans. We want to replicate this model all over Goa, in the hinterlands and in main cities.”
MeWo has meeting rooms, seats in open and secluded areas, printing, plush ambiance, audio and video conferencing, café, personalized housekeeping and most important wifi open to all. A lot of young start-ups prefer working out of such places so that they don’t have to maintain their own offices, which has its own hassles.
Shaikh said, “The centre has more than 150 seats and 3 meeting rooms, which can be expanded and collapsed. On an average, the minimum rental that we can offer is Rs 8,000-9,000 per seat per month, which is fully integrated cost.”
Shaikh further informed that they had pre-bookings of around 30% even before the launch, which shows the potential it has.
