Khaunte: Will act against illegalities on comunidade land at Colvale

Inspecting illegal structures on comunidade land at Colvale, Khaunte also assured to initiate action against the Colvale comunidade and
others concerned for the
illegalities.
During the assembly session, Tivim MLA Nilkanth Harlankar had alleged that Colvale comunidade had developed about 110 plots for a very cheap rate.
In his reply, Khaunte had assured to initiate a probe in the matter and to take action against the illegalities.
Accordingly, Khaunte on Monday morning inspected the site along with Tivim MLA Harlankar, North Goa Collector Nila Mohanan, Deputy Collector Gaurish Shankhwalkar, North Goa Comunidade administrator Rohan Kaskar, Mamlatdar Dasharath Gawas and TCP officials.
A police force was also present during the inspection.
Khaunte sought details about the plots allegedly sold on Colvale comunidade land from Kaskar and TCP officials.
During the inspection, Harlankar had said the comunidade land had been at a very low rate and demanded a probe into the recent
land scam.
Responding to Halarnkar's request for a probe on recent illegal structures, Khaunte said he would investigate all structures on comunidate land at Colvale.
Later speaking to reporters, Khaunte emphasised the need to amend the comunidade act in order to preserve comunidade land.
"A commission was appointed to study the comunidade act and amendments will be made according to the report of this commission,"
he added.
Clarifying the government's decision on regularising illegal constructions, Khaunte said: "The government has not taken any decision to regularise illegal constructions on comunidade land, but has decided to legalise constructions built on private land."
