Khaunte’s panels emerge winners

Panels backed by Revenue Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte in Socorro and Salvador-do-Mundo swept the panchayat polls.

In Socorro Panchayat, all the 11 candidates supported by Khaunte have been elected. The surprise defeat was of Sonia Asnodkar, wife of Porvorim BJP Mandal president Mahananda Asnodkar, and Kirti Asnodkar, wife of senior BJP leader Kishor Asnodkar.

In Salvador-do-Mundo Panchayat, 8 out of the 9 candidates supported by Khaunte got elected.

Addressing the newly elected panchas, Khaunte said all the panchas should work unitedly for the development of their villages. “If everyone concentrates on development of their ward, then the village will be developed automatically,” said Khaunte. “I will give all the support and assistance required for the villages,” Khaunte assured.

Goa Forward Party takes dig at opposition

Goa Forward congratulated its MLAs WRD Minister Vinoda Paliencar and Housing Minister Jayesh Salgaoncar for getting their panels elected with thumping majority in their respective constituencies.
