The controversial kiosk which has sprung up along the NH66 highway in Chaudi, Canacona.

Eyebrows have been raised over the sudden construction of a kiosk at a prime location along the NH66 in Chaudi.
According to Canacona Councillor Pandurang alias Dhiraj Naikgaunkar, a double-storeyed kiosk suddenly came up in Chaudi on Tuesday.
“When informed, the Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) chief officer informed me about a notice which has been served regarding an illegal construction,” said Naikgaunkar.
“The structure is just across the NH66 highway, but I received a cold shoulder from a PWD (highway) official, who bluntly informed me that highway authorities have nothing to do with the illegality, clearly refusing to act in the matter.”
When contacted, CMC Chairperson Simon Rebello confirmed that the CMC has already issued a notice and action would be initiated against those involved in the construction.
Sources informed that the CMC has neither issued any NOC to the construction nor is any application pending regarding the structure in a prime location.
It is believed that the fabrication of the kiosk was done somewhere else and the structure was shifted and moved to the site sometime at night.
