According to reports, the GoAir flight G8 345 had taken off from Kochi and was en route to Mumbai, when the pilot was alerted of a technical snag in the aircraft.
The pilot immediately notified the Air Traffic Control at Dabolim Airport and the plane was given permission for an emergency landing at about 10 pm.
A GoAir spokesperson told the Hindustan Times that "GoAir flight G8 345 (Kochi-Mumbai) flight was diverted to Goa due to technical snag. All 166 passengers were deplaned safely. GoAir apologises for the inconvenience caused to its esteemed customers."
After landing at Dabolim Airport, the technical snag was rectified and the flight left for Mumbai at around 12.30 am, sources told The Goan.
In a statement issued to the Hindustan Times on Thursday, the company said: "The GoAir A320neo that diverted to Goa, India on August 30 was powered by Pratt & Whitney engines. Pratt & Whitney is working with GoAir to assess the situation."
According to a PTI report, the Wadia Group-promoted budget airline GoAir has already grounded two A320 aircraft due to Pratt & Whitney engine-related issues.
Aviation regulator DGCA has also asked engine maker Pratt & Whitney to fix the snags in its engines powering Airbus 320 neo planes operated by IndiGo and GoAir within a "specified time".
