Konkani prog at Belagavi on July 8

BELAGAVI

The All India Konkani Parishad in collaboration with Uzwaad Pariwaar will organise a one-day Konkani programme in Belagavi on July 8 at 10 am.

The programme is being organised on the occasion of 78th foundation day of All India Konkani Parishad.

The programme will be organised at St Anthony’s School hall, Camp, Belagavi. Goa’s Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Agriculture Ramesh Tawadkar will inaugurate the function. Bishop of Sindhudurg Dr Allwyn Baretto will be the chief guest, while Parishad president Gokuldas Prabhu will preside over the function. MLA Feroz Sait and eminent Konkani writers, activists and dignitaries from Goa, Maharashtra, Kerala and Karnataka will be present on the occasion.

Briefing mediapersons on the day-long function, member of the local organising committee Jerome Andrade said an all inclusive committee comprising Christian, Saraswat, Daivadnya and Konkan Maratha Konkani speaking community has been formed.

Presided over by social activist Adv Chandrahas Anvekar, this is for the first time in the history the Konkani speaking people of Belagavi region are coming together with an intention of consolidating their unity under the banner of Uzwaad Pariwaar.

Eminent personalities and social activists like hotelier Sudhakar Shanbhag, president of Daivadnya Seva Sangh Praveen Revankar, executive engineer of Kolhapur Irrigation Division J J Bardeskar will be felicitated on the occasion with Konkani Pride Citation for their valuable contribution to the society.

“We are overwhelmed to inform that for the first time, 10 Konkani e-books will be released at Belagavi,” L Rodrigues informed.

Stating that for the first time, Konkani speaking people belonging to different religions have come together to organise the function, president of the organising committee Adv Chandrahas Anvekar has urged Konkani speaking people of Belagavi, Goa and Karwar region to be present for the function and strengthen the unity of the Konkani speaking people.
