Furious over their pending wages for two months, angry labourers at the Mopa airport construction site on Wednesday damaged cars and hurled stones at a building in protest.
The police however, swung into action and brought the situation under control after getting information of the tension in the area.
According to sources, the contractor of the airport project has a large number of non-Goan labourers employed at the site.
Despite the damage to property, police said no police complaint has been filed so far.
"The police tried to intervene and resolve the situation but so far we have received no official complaint. Hence, we have not arrested anyone," said Police Inspector Vikram Naik.
"I have discussed the issue with the contractor so that the labourers could get their wages in their bank accounts. They were agitated since they wanted the money to celebrate Holi," he added.
When contacted, some labourers claimed they had not been given their wages for the last two months. Some other labourers also alleged that they were also not given their meals on time.
Information regarding exact number of vehicles damaged and buildings stoned was not available with the police.
However, reports said that around 5-6 vehicles were damaged due to stone throwing by the protesting labourers.
