The Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the large-scale land fraud in the State, has registered a new FIR against 14 persons including Rohan Harmalkar, who unsuccessfully contested the State assembly elections last year.
The FIR booked under relevant sections of forgery, cheating and criminal conspiracy came following a complaint by one Antonio Savio D’Costa alleging that the accused illegally transferred the ownership rights.
“The complainant is the power of attorney holder of the actual owner of the property. He has charged the accused with forging documents pertaining to the property and transferring the ownership rights unlawfully by executing the process at the office of the Mamlatdar, Bardez,” SIT SP Nidhin Valsan said.
The offence occurred before August 22, 2022, with the needle of suspicion once again pointing at the officials of the Mamlatdar office. The SIT has already booked some government employees including suspended Mamlatdar Rahul Desai for facilitating massive illegality related to numerous properties in Bardez taluka.
In the present complaint, the accused hail from Goa, Maharashtra and Haryana.
