A landslide was reported at Upasnagar-Sancoale and a tree fell in Bhute Bhat area of Vasco, as incessant rains and strong winds disrupted normal life in Mormugao taluka.
Traffic along the busy Sancoale road was disrupted after a landslide brought down mud, boulders and even uprooted trees.
According to social worker Eddie Fernandes, the landslide was reported at around 7.30 am on Thursday along the road leading towards the Sancoale Church and the adjoining residential area.
Fernandes then alerted Cortalim MLA Anton Vas, who rushed to the site and carried out a joint inspection.
He instructed various departments like fire brigade, electricity department and traffic department to clear the road immediately.
Elsewhere, a coconut tree came crashing on a parked car at Bhute Bhat Area in Vasco.
The incident had caused losses of around Rs 2 lakh to the owners of the car.
A tree cutter was sent to the site and the coconut tree was cleared by late Thursday evening.
