OLD GOA
Traffic along the Pilar-Old Goa route was disrupted for several hours as a banyan tree came crashing down on the road at Neura on Thursday morning.
According to locals, the tree fell across the main road at around 6.30 am in the morning and also brought down power lines with it.
As the road was blocked by the fallen tree, the traffic got halted along the route.
The small vehicular traffic was however diverted via alternate road but the heavy traffic had to bear the brunt till the blockade was cleared which affected the office goers using buses to go to work.
The fire personnel arrived at the site and cleared the tree after almost four hours after which normal traffic resumed.
Power supply in the area was restored only in the evening. St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar was personally monitoring the work along with his staff who were also helping in regulating the traffic.
