The State Government has assured to allot plots at the Latambarcem Industrial Estate by December 2018. Currently, the process of conversion of land is in progress.
Speaking on the Floor of the House, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar informed, "We are in the process of getting forest approvals and carrying out conversion of land. This is for the first time we want to carry out the conversion first and only then start with allocation of plots."
Taking a dig at the Opposition, he said, "We realised that no conversion of the land allotted by the Opposition has been carried out. I am doing it now."
The question on the upcoming Latambarcem Industrial Estate was tabled by Bicholim MLA Rajesh Patnekar who sought to know the status
of the upcoming industrial
estate.
"We expect to get all approvals within the next six months, so by 2018 after putting up all infrastructure like power, water and roads in place, we want to start allotment of plots in this industrial estate," said Parrikar.
He also informed that a power substation dedicated to the industrial estate will be put up soon. "If we don't provide proper power supply no investors will be interested. Simultaneously, we will have a separate feeder for nearby villages," he assured.
"We are in the process of reducing 15 per cent of open spaces in industrial areas to 10 per cent. This is likely to be done by August. This will lead to increase in FAR of industries by 60 per cent and open spaces will be reduced to 10 per cent. Of this 10 per cent, 5 per cent will be utilised for supporting services like a power house," informed Parrikar.
"I will see to it that we commission the industrial estate by May-June next year. If MLA takes the initiative, I will call a meeting in September after Ganesh Chaturthi. We can simultaneously carry out the conversion process and
setting up of infrastructure," he said.
