The Special Investigating Team set up to probe land grab cases in the State has revealed that nearly 2.5 lakh square metres from 93 properties in North Goa have been fraudulently sold by scamsters.
The SIT has now sent this list of 93 properties to the North Goa Deputy Collector to cancel all registrations, mutations and conversion processes related to these properties.
The list has also been sent to the finance secretary, State registrar, Director General of Police and other related departments.
As per information unearthed by the team after interrogating Vikrant Shetty and Mohamad Shafi, both of who are accused in the sale of lands using forged documents, a total of 2,47,525 sq mtrs of land of 93 properties in North Goa have been fraudulently sold.
Most of the illegalities that have come to light are from Assagao village. As per the list, a total of 49 properties with land admeasuring 1,60,250 sq mts have been fraudulently sold using bogus documents.
The list also reveals that from Anjuna there are 19 properties with an area of 46,425 sq mts. Other properties include 10 from Calangute with an area of 21,600 sq mts, 15 from Parra village with area totalling 17,400 sq mts and some from Pilerne village.
The two district collectors had earlier been directed to freeze all transactions, whether conversion, mutation or sale in relation to the sale of properties that were listed by the SIT.
The SIT -- headed by Nidhan Valsan -- has arrested five accused including Vikrant Shetty and Mohamad Shafi.
