Mayem land issue: Plans to relax application process for claimants

BICHOLIM

Mayem MLA Premendra Shet has said that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, at a high-level meeting, has decided to resolve the pending claims of properties in Mayem with a key decision.

Shet said Sawant has suggested to approve the applications for the charter by providing only one piece of evidence and relaxing the three documents that were asked earlier.

The MLA said the Mayem bhumiputras would be relieved after the Chief Minister's decision.

Sawant has also directed the senior officers to take up the pending cases for seven days during the hearing.

"The government is using all these options to enable the people of Mayem to get the sanad, and the process will be expedited by asking for a single document. The Chief Minister has instructed senior officials to amend the technical law," Shet said.

He said the government was working to resolve the issue 100 per cent.

A total of 422 claims have been settled out of 1,822.

The meeting was attended by MLA Premendra Shet, Attorney General Devidas Pangam, Revenue Department officials, Collector, Deputy Collector, mamlatdars and other officials as well as two members of the committee, Shekhar Naik and Arjun Naik.

Shet has expressed satisfaction that the Chief Minister has paid special attention to these issues for expeditious disposal of claims.
