PONDA
It may be recalled that Goa Surakhsa Manch (GSM) had submitted a memorandum to Ponda PI Sudesh Naik asking for action, but no action was taken in the matter as yet.
The GSM demanded police deployment at two places in Shirshirem-Borim, where people go for picnics near waterfalls.
The GSM had also written a letter to Deputy Collector Ponda stating that the tourists visiting the place create nuisance by littering liquor bottles and other stuff.
The vigilant citizens of Borim visited the place and found many beer bottles and soft drink bottles thrown in the area. The waterfall at Sidhanath Parvat are thronged by the visitors for picnicking.
The villagers claim that many visitors visit this place for enjoyment and litter the place on weekends.
Shailesh Naik, a Borim resident, said the visitors are creating nuisance while picknicking. "They should behave well when they come here. They are littering the place by throwing beer bottles and other garbage," he said.
The locals have demanded that police should patrol in the area and should
take action against nuisance creators.
